Forms very tight, upright culms, Perfect for suburban city areas and/or planting bamboo in small narrow spaces.

A choice landscaping bamboo native to China, Bambusa textilis has culms that grow strongly upright before nodding gracefully at their tips.

The lower nodes are free of branches to a greater degree than most of the genus, up to as much as three quarters of the culm height in mature specimens, adding to its arborescent stature and ornamental appeal.

It has relatively small leaves for a semitropical bamboo and is better able to withstand strong, drying winds without damage to its foliage.
The delicate foliage is attractive, matching the gracefulness of the rest of the plant.

It clumps very tightly, making an excellent hedge for homeowners in smaller and closer urban communities that are looking for top tier privacy and fast!

Long internodes and strong but pliable fiber make it a choice bamboo for weaving all manner of materials, from delicate baskets to strong rope. The thin-walled, but strong, whole culms are used in craftwork and some furniture making.

Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

When planting for a privacy fence, depending on species and your own preference, space out every 3ft to 8ft apart. (Seabeeze Bamboo - Within 1 year you will have a privacy screen, in two you will have a privacy wall, in three you will have a privacy impenetrable barrier.)

You want to dig holes wide rather than deep. Bamboo likes to stay shallow in the soil, which is why mulch is very important. Bamboo will naturally drop its own mulch as a survival mechanism, shielding its valuable and vulnerable rhizomes from the intense heat of the sun as well as freezing cold temperatures.

My rhizome is not growing

There are many reasons and outcomes to this question. Here is how we troubleshoot, your bamboo/ it’s rhizome should be planted relatively shallow, as gently as possible excavate out the rhizome in question. Many times just under the surface you will find healthy beautiful growth, if so replant and continue as was.
Other times we may find the soil was not porous enough and the growing buds molded off or not enough water and the growing buds dried out.

Those are the most common errors.

Be sure soil is well draining.

Be sure to top off and around generously with mulch

Be sure you are planting these plants/ rhizomes just below ground level, utilizing mulch to add protection and coverage.

Be sure to water plenty, especially at first.

Reviews

Unfortunately the plant was in a rather wispy condition and died. I purchased the same plant from another seller (and several times, for that matter) and they are doing great. Sadly, won’t come back to this seller.

Arrived in great condition. Fast shipping

Beautiful plant packaged with care. Good root system. Nice leaves intact. I've purchased a couple plants from other sites that aren't as nice as this one. Good price. You can choose the size of the plant which will determine the price.

Sebastian sent a pretty impressive rhizome. It was packaged with care and had a handwritten note in the box. Receiving rhizomes is a little tricky because you can’t tell how it’s doing as you can’t see the leaves or the culms. Any concerns I did have Sebastian was quick to respond. No shoots on my rhizomes yet but the communication I’ve had with him so far has earned my business.

All the dirt was out of the pot one stick had leaves on it. The rest don’t hopefully they grow. Plus it was ice cold could’ve waited a few days before shipment. I do have pictures but I haven’t figured out how to send them to you, Fast response seller resending plant.
